2009-10 CHS National Honor Society

Clay High School held its National Honor Society Inductions on Friday, March 12, 2010, in the high school gymnasium.  Six new members were inducted into Clay's National Honor Society.

The new members include Jessica Arnold, daughter of Mark and Kitty Rose of Wheelersburg and Nathan and Mary Arnold of Coolville; Katherine Bauer, daughter of Jeff and Jeril Bauer of Rosemount; Chelsea Beegan, daughter of Jon and Denise Beegan of Greenup and Scott and Teresa Vassar of Rosemount; Keely Craft, daughter of Greg and Tomi Craft of Rosemount; Kylie Davis, daughter of Brian and Lori Davis of Portsmouth; and Julie Williams, daughter of Joe and Nancy Williams of Clarktown. Current NHS members include Morgan Garrett, president; Kyle Pollard, vice-president; Katie Wheeler, secretary; McKenzie Carr; and Natalie Thacker.

The speaker for the afternoon's induction was Eric Thacker, son of Butch and Toni Thacker of Portsmouth.  Eric is a 2004 graduate of Clay High School; he is currently pursuing a pharmacy degree at the University of Charleston.

Members of the chapter are selected based on the criteria of character, leadership, scholarship, and service; and members must have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher to be considered. Members are involved in many activities and service projects throughout the year. The advisor for the Clay National Honor Society is Mrs. Janet Deal. The Clay National Honor Society Chapter is sponsored by the New Boston Kiwanis.
