The Clay Local School District Salutes Outstanding Student Applicants and School Winners in the Race for the 2013 Wendy's High School Heisman
Clay High School is extending a special congratulations to Jessica Moore and Mark Shaffer who were named school winners for the prestigious Wendy’s High School Heisman Award. To be eligible for this award, students must display academic aptitude, athletic talent, and community leadership.
The Ohio Department of Education (ODE) has recognized Clay High School as a School of Promise. Clay High School is one of 141 total schools in Ohio given recognition for closing the achievement gaps for students in the categories of math and reading.
Dr. Richard Ross, ODE State Superintendent, will present an award to CHS/MS on Tuesday, October 29, 2013, at 11:30am in the gymnasium. The public is invited to attend the event.
Clay’s Music Department has partnered with Florida Indian River Groves to sell delicious, grove-fresh, Florida, navel oranges and Indian River, red grapefruit as a fundraiser this year.
This fundraiser will help fund student travel and other expenses throughout the school year. You may credit a specific student’s account or you may credit the entire group.

The Clay Christmas Craft Bazaar will be held Saturday, November 2, 2013, at Clay HS from 9:00 AM - 2:00 PM.
The alumni will hold a pancake breakfast from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM. They will serve pancakes, sausage links, and choice of drink for $5.00 ($3 for children). From 11:00 AM -2:00 PM they will serve hot dogs, chili, chips, and a drink for $5.00 ($3 for children).
Vendors offering a variety of items will be present. Some Clay student groups will also be offering spirit items for sale to raise money for various projects.
This will be a large fundraiser for the Clay Alumni Association. The proceeds will benefit the Clay School Legacy Scholarship Fund. The organization was able to give out fourteen (14) scholarships to last year's seniors.
Please come out and support this endeavor.
Schedules, Rosters, Results, and Pictures
The soccer and volleyball teams helped raise $1,018.00 for the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Fund.
The soccer team held their event during the home game with South Webster on Tuesday, October 1st, while the volleyball team held their event on Saturday, October 5th, as they hosted West Union and West in a tri-match. Although the JV volleyball matches were cancelled that day, the JV team did help with the fundraising efforts.
Four Clay student-athletes attended the Ohio High School Athletic Association Student Leadership Conference on Tuesday, October 1, 2013. Katie Redding, Michael Schmidt, Mark Shaffer, and Emily Widdowson were selected to attend the conference on the campus of The Ohio State University.
