Clay HS 2015-2016 National Honor Society Induction

Clay Junior-Senior High School held its National Honor Society Induction on Wednesday, January 6, 2016, in the high school cafetorium.  Four new students were inducted into Clay’s National Honor Society.

The new members inducted were Cole Gilliland, son of Craig and Melanie Gilliland of Rosemount; James Arthur Madden, son of Danny and Lisa Madden of Portsmouth; Ava L. McCleese, daughter of Chris and April McCleese of Lucasville; and Alaina Stowers, daughter of Susan Runyon and Ryan Stowers of Rosemount.

The current NHS members included Bailey Hartlage, Abbie Harris, Gabby Hickman, and Levi Nelson.

The speaker for the afternoon’s ceremony was Mrs. Kristen (McClellan) Livingston.  She was inducted into the CHS National Honor Society in 2008 and was the co-valedictorian of the 2009 Clay High School graduating class.  She graduated summa cum laude in 2011 from Shawnee State University with a degree in sociology.  In 2013, she received her Master’s degree from Ohio University.  In that same year she joined the Shawnee Family Health Center staff and in 2015 she moved to the Hopewell Health Center in Jackson, Ohio, as an Early Childhood Mental Health consultant and therapist providing services to the Jackson County Schools and therapy for children under five and their families. 

Members of the chapter are selected based on the criteria of character, leadership, scholarship, and service; and members must have a grade point average of 3.5 or higher to be considered.  Members are involved in many activities and service projects throughout the year.  The advisor for the Clay National Honor Society is Mr. Mark Rose.
