CMS & CES Spelling Bees 2015-16

 



Congrats to Emily Clausing for qualifying for the Regional Spelling Bee!  The Clay Middle School Spelling Bee was held Thursday, January 7, 2016, in the Clay HS/MS Library, and the Clay Elementary School Spelling Bee was held on Friday, January 15, 2016.

The following sixth, seventh, and eighth graders represented their classes in the school bee:  
Sixth graders:  Liam Garrison, Connor Puckett and Austin Smith
Seventh graders:  Andrew Brown, Emily Clausing, James Marsh and Evan Woods
Eighth graders:  Gavin Bennett, Noah Downs, Gage Keller and Caleb McNutt

Clay Middle School's 2016 Spelling Bee champion is Emily Clausing, a seventh grader and daughter of April and Ryan Clausing.  Emily will represent Clay Middle School in the Scioto County Spelling Bee. She took an online test in January to qualify for the Regional Spelling Bee at Ohio University in March. Yes, she qualified!  The runner-up, who will act as the alternate for Clay, Liam Garrison, a sixth grader and son of Kara and Trevor Copeland.

The Clay Elementary 2016 Spelling Bee champion is Jonathan Dean, a fifth grader. Tyra Rawlins, a fifth grader, was the runner-up.
