Clyde Ratliff, Former Clay Bus Driver, Passes

PORTSMOUTH - Clyde Ratliff, 88, of Portsmouth, passed away February 2, 2022, at his home. He was born January 23, 1934, to the late James and Goldie Mae (Graham) Ratliff in Louisa, KY. He worked at Empire Detroit Steel until it closed; he then worked as a bus driver for the Clay Local Schools and maintenance for Buckeye Towers in New Boston. Clyde loved to buy, sell, and trade anything. He was an avid sports fan, especially of the UK Wildcats and Clay Panthers.

Clyde is survived by a son, Brian Ratliff and wife Connie of West Henrietta, NY; two daughters, Brenda Brown of Wheelersburg and Pam Veach and husband Donald of Lewis County, KY; one brother, Carless Ratliff of Baltimore, MD; six grandchildren, Matt Collier, Jason Bailey, Andy Bailey, Zack Brown, Breanna Ratliff, and Carlye Ratliff; seven great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Earl Ratliff, Homer Ratliff, John Ratliff and Ernest Ratliff; three sisters, Flora Belcher, Marie Stevenson, Myrtle Endicott, and Dolly Ratliff.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 8, 2022, at D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME in New Boston with Jason Bailey officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Burial Park in Wheelersburg. Friends may call Monday, February 7, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent to DWSwickFuneralHome.com.
