Clay MS Spelling Bee 2012-2013

The 2013 Clay Middle School Spelling Bee was held Tuesday, January 15, 2013, in the Clay School Library.

 The following sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students represented their classes in the school bee:

Sixth graders:  Lila Brown, Cody Daniels, Calvin Gerard, and Cassie Puckett

Seventh graders:  Kayleigh Blevins, Alicia Bobst, Bethany Flannery, and Autumn Sanders

Eighth graders:  Ava McCleese, Samantha Nolen, Adam Swayne, and Lynlee Wells

Clay’s 2013 Spelling Bee champion is Calvin Gerard, a sixth grader.  He is the son of Chris Gerard and Angela Ritenour of Portsmouth.  Calvin will represent Clay Middle School in the Scioto Co. Spelling Bee at the SOMC Friends Center on Saturday, March 2, 2013, at 7:00 P.M.

The runner-up, who will act as alternate for Clay, is Autumn Sanders, a seventh grader.  She is the daughter of Mindy Bruce and Jason Sanders of Portsmouth.

Congratulations to 6th grader, Calvin Gerard, the Clay Middle School Spelling Bee Champion, and 4th grader, Emily Clausing, the Clay Elementary School Spelling Bee Champion!  Both of these students have advanced to the Regional Spelling Bee, which will be held at Ohio University on March 16, 2013.  Good Luck to Calvin and Emily!
