Visually Literate Art Show 2013

Hailey Hinch Wins First Prize in Photography!
Southern Ohio Museum (April 11 -  May 9, 2013)

To be "visually literate" means being able to gain meaning from what we see and being able to communicate meaning to others through the images we create.  This in an increasingly significant skill for students to acquire in our technology- driven world.  Images have become progressively more important as a means of communication, making Visually Litrerate an appropriate name for this high school art show.

This year 140 works of art were submitted for judging to become part of the 2013 show.  There are seven categories including: black & white drawing, color drawing, painting, sculpture, mixed media, utilitarian three dimensional work, and photography, graphic arts, and digital media.

The  judge of the show was Mr. Lane Raiser, Professor of Art  at Shawnee State University. The show this year includes a total of 50 of the very best works of art from the following school systems: Clay, East, Minford, New Boston, Northwest, Portsmouth, South Webster, Valley, West, and Wheelersburg.
