Congratulations to Tiffany Moore (Shanks), Clay Jr.-Sr. High art teacher, on her induction into the Poland Seminary High School Sports Hall of Fame on September 16, 2016. There was a Hall of Fame tailgate party prior to the pre-game induction ceremony that included former coaches, staff, inductees, and their families.
Tiffany was a very versatile athlete for the Bulldogs excelling in softball, soccer, and track while also marching with the band and flag line. In softball, Tiffany was a 4-year letter winner at centerfield and 4-year MVC 1st team All-Conference selection. She was selected to the 2nd team All-State and the All-North Eastern Ohio team her junior and senior years. She was also invited to play in the Ohio High School Fastpitch Softball Coaches Association summer tournament her junior and senior years. Her batting average her senior year was .458 with 5 home runs and 19 steals. In soccer, Tiffany was a 4-year letter winner and was selected 1st team MVC her sophomore through senior seasons. She was also selected to the 1st team All-Greater Akron and Gold All-Star teams 3 years in a row. Her senior year she was chosen as one of Youngstown Vindicator’s area High School Stars of the Week. Tiffany was selected to the TEAMSUSA 1990 European Select Youth Soccer Team (U18) and toured Europe for a month competing in the Gothia, Dana, and Holland Cups. Tiffany finished her senior year with 23 goals and 3 assists. In track, Tiffany lettered only participating her junior year. Her events included the 100m dash, long jump, and anchored the 4X100 relay. She was 1st team All-Conference, All-County Qualifier (100m dash) and OHSAA District Qualifier (100m dash - 13.2). Tiffany also participated in the Marching Band (trombone) and Flagline where she was a 4-year letter winner. Aside from marching for football games, the band competed in a number of competitions including traveling to Canada and Orlando.
Tiffany then continued her sports career at Shawnee State University on an athletic scholarship to play softball and soccer. She also was a cheerleader and the mascot. She received numerous awards for her athletic achievements while at SSU. Some achievements were being a NAIA softball All-American and Scholar Athlete. NAIA Great Lakes All-Region, NAIA All-Tournament Team, and NAIA National Tournament Individual Record holder for most doubles. MOC Scholar Athlete, MOC 1st Team All-Conference, and MOC Player of the Week. Shawnee State Individual Record Holder for stolen bases (43-45), 2nd highest batting average at .443 and has All-Time roster honors for both softball and soccer. At centerfield,she helped her team earn two National Championship team rings. Tiffany cheered just one year at Shawnee State, but she became the University’s mascot for two years and earned UCA camp ratings of Excellent and Superior, including an overall Superior camp trophy.
Soon after graduating from Shawnee State University, Tiffany received her Master of Education in Classroom Teaching from the University of Rio Grande. She is now starting her 20th year of teaching art in the Clay Local School District.
