Clay High School’s Katie Duduit and Cam Thoroughman were nominated for the coveted Wendy’s High School Heisman Award. Similar to the collegiate Heisman recognition, this award honors the nations’ top high school seniors who best exemplify a supreme “scholar-citizen-athlete.”

These two promising leaders were recognized by Todd Warnock, principal of Clay High School, for their academic aptitude, athletic talent, and tremendous display of commitment to their communities.

“We believe it’s important to recognize our young people not just for what they do in the classroom or on the field, but their contributions to their communities,” said Mr. Warnock. “The Wendy’s High School Heisman program is a great way to spotlight, on a national level, just how special they are.”

Now celebrating 12 years of commitment to youth and education, this program was created through a partnership between Wendy’s, the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP), and the Heisman Memorial Trust, in 1994.

Ms. Duduit and Mr. Thoroguhman were nominated for this program based on their classroom success, civic involvement, and sports participation.

“These students are truly in a league of their own,” says Archie Griffin, the only two-time winner of the prestigious Heisman Memorial Trophy and program spokesman. “Each student nominated for the award has gone above and beyond expectations to help those in need, enhance their education and pursue their dreams.”

Katie is the daughter of Jeff and Kelly Duduit of Minford and Cam is the son of Mike and Marla Thoroughman of Friendship.

Sarah Shaffer and Chris Bihl, last year's representatives, both graduated and are currently furthering their education. Sarah, who was one of the 10 female finalist for the Heisman Award in the state of Ohio, attends Miami (OH) University while Chris is at Eastern Kentucky University.
