GBB v. Waterford, Division IV District Finals @ the Convocation Center in Athens
The Clay Lady Panthers took on the Waterford Wildcats at the Convo Wednesday night.  The game ended with a final score of 71-35, with Waterford taking the win.  Clay was led in scoring by Holly Hempill's 10 points and Katherine Bauer's 9 points.  The Clay Lady Panthers finished the season with a final record or 15-8 (11-3 in the SOC), Sectional Champions, and District Runners-up.

GBB v. Eastern Pike, Division IV District Semi-Final @ Jackson

The Clay Lady Panthers and the Eastern Lady Eagles split their respective regular season contests, but the Lady Panthers came away with the rubber match.  Clay overcame an early 9-0 deficit to defeat Eastern Pike 40-35 on Saturday in Jackson.  Holly Hempill pulled down 18 rebounds and had 11 points.  Perhaps Clay’s most clutch performance of the night came from Katherine Bauer.  Bauer was scoreless for nearly three quarters of play, scoring all on her 9 points in the game’s final 8:33.  Bauer scored 7 of Clay’s last 8 points and came up with a game-sealing-steal.  Clay will face Waterford in the Division IV District Final at the Convocation Center in Athens on Wednesday at 8:15 p.m.

BB v. Manchester, Division IV Sectional Tournament @ Valley HS
The Clay Panthers brought home the loss on Tuesday night in the Sectional Semifinal as the Greyhounds of Manchester beat them with the score being 70-59. Clay never had the lead in this game, but they kept it close with them letting Manchester have their largest lead of the game at 14 points with 1:29 left in the fourth quarter. The closest Clay got to the Greyhounds was a two point difference, but Manchester never let go of the lead. Cody Delotell was the leading scorer for Clay with 15 points, Bussler was right behind him with 14, Jon Valentine with 13 with seven rebounds, and senior Chaz Lawson with 9 points and 8 rebounds. The Panthers finish the season with a record of 9-12.

GB v. Whiteoak, Division IV Sectional Tournament @ Northwest HS
The Clay Lady Panthers were able to bring home their second straight sectional title Saturday against the Lady Wildcats from Whiteoak.  Clay jumped out to an early 13-4 lead, but had a tougher time during the middle of the game with a score of 22-20 at halftime.  The Panthers grasped their victory with the score of 47-35 at the end of the game.  Chelsea Beegan led the scoring with 13 points, Katherine Bauer scored 12, and Holly Hempill added an additional 9 points and 16 rebounds.  The Lady Panthers will travel to Jackson High School on February 27 at 1:45 to compete against the Eastern Eagles in the district semifinals.

BB @ South Webster
The JV and varsity both brought home losses on Saturday. The JV lost 47-29 ending their season at 11-9. The varsity lost 78-40. They end their regular season at 9-11. Chaz Lawson and Cody Delotell were the leading scorers for Clay with 9 points. Jon Valentine was right behind them with 8.

7BB @ South Webster Tournament
The 7th grade boys had an off day shooting against South Webster Saturday, a team they had beaten twice this season. Coming back from a 16 point deficit to get within 6 the Panthers fell short 30-23.  Bryson Hurt led Clay with 8, Chance Walburn added 5 in the loss.

BB @ Notre Dame

There were three wins on Friday night against Notre Dame. The freshmen won 41-37 and finish their season at 3-5. The JV won 38-33; they are now 11-8. The varsity also brought home the win with a 66-60 victory. The leading scorer was Nathan Burchett with 14. Following him was Jon Valentine with 12, Cody Bussler and Cody Delotell both added 10. Clay is now 9-10 in regular season. They finish out the year in SOC play with a record of 9-5.

8JrHBB @ South Webster Tournament v. Oak Hill
The 8th grade boys suffered a loss to Oak Hill in tournament action at South Webster Thursday night.  The fell 43-45 after leading by 12 points in the third quarter. The winning basket was scored with two seconds left to play. Mark Shaffer led all scorers with 21; Michael Schmidt added 11.  The Panthers finish the year at 11-4 and 9-3 in SOC action.

BB @ East5536
The JV came home with a win on Wednesday night with a 55-36 victory over the Tartans. They increased there record to 10-8 on the year. The varsity brought home a big win also with the score being 85-74. Bussler set the the (season,team, and personal high) with 28 points. To follow him was Burchett 24, Delotell 15, Valentine 12, and Porter with 6. The five Juniors were the only one to score on the night. Clay was 10-15 from three point range shooting 67%. Clay is now 8-10 in regular season and 8-5 in SOC play. Clay plays tonight against Notre Dame in there last SOC match.

Both the JV and varsity fell short.  The JV lost 36-37 after leading the entire game. They are now 9-8 on the year. The varsity lost 71-44; they are now 7-10 in the regular season. Bussler led the Panthers in scoring as Burchett and Delotell added 8 on the night.

BB v. Green
The JV and varsity teams both had a win last night in the contest against Green. JV increased their record to 9-7 on the year. The varsity won their contest with a 77-62 victory incresing their record to 7-9 and 7-5 in SOC play.  Cody Delotell was the highest scorer for the Panthers with 24 points. Bussler had 15, Burchett added 14, and Valentine chipped in 10.

GBB v. Notre Dame
Although our JV had a loss of 12-9, our varisty Lady Panthers finished their last game of the season with a good win.  Clay started strong in the first quarter with a 17-6 lead.  However, the game came to a closer conclusion by the end.  At half time, the score was 26-16.  In the final quarter, Notre Dame pushed against the Panthers, bringing the game even closer with 38-33.  Even so, Clay pulled out of the battle victorious, with a 45-37 win.  Chelsea Beegan had a hot hand early in the game with a total of 12 points.  She made 3 three pointers, giving her 9 of those 12 points.  Katherine Bauer also tallied 12 points  (making 7 of her 10 free throw attempts) and had 5 rebounds and 4 assists.  Holly Hempill scored 9 points and 7 rebounds, with an additional 3 steals.  Keely Craft put up 6 points and 4 rebounds to finish the season.  The Clay Lady Panthers will play their first tournament game February 20th at Northwest at 2:45pm for the sectional finals.  They will face the winner of Notre Dame and Whiteoak. 

JrH @ Notre Dame
The 7th grade boys finished their season with only 1 loss, tying Western for the top record of SOC 1 teams. They topped off the regular season with a 28-20 win at Notre Dame.  Bryson Hurt and Zack Phillips led all scorers with 8, Chance Walburn added 7.  The 8th grade finished off a very successful regular season on a sour note, losing to Notre Dame 47-27. The girls finished the season with a 46-40 win at Notre Dame to finish the year at 14-0 and 11-0 in the SOC.  The seventh grade finished up on Monday.  Their record stands at 6-3, 5-0.  Both teams will begin tournament play on Saturday as they travel to South Webster.  The seventh grade takes on South Webster at 10AM while the eighth grade plays Wheelersburg at 2:30.

GBB @ Northwest
The Clay Lady Panthers fell short in the effort Monday night to defeat the Northwest Mohawks.  The final score was 38-36.  Clay was led by Holly Hempill's 16 points.  The JV lost 21-30.  The Clay Panthers play Notre Dame Thursday night at home.  It is the last regular season contest before the tournament begins on Feb. 20th.

JrH v. Western
The 7th grade boys pulled out a 2-point victory against previously unbeaten Western 41-39. The seventh grade is now 10-1.  Zack Phillips led the way with 22 points. 

Every player scored for the 8th grade in a convincing 54-23 win. Michael Hafer led the scoring with 14. The Panthers are now 11-2.

The seventh grade girls defeated the Western combined team by six points, 28-22.  The seventh graders are now 6-3 on the season.

GB v. Green
The Lady Panthers finished with a fourth consecutive win and 10th win in the SOC.  JV beat Green with a score of 34-18.  Varsity also defeated the Bobcats with a final score of 62-37.  Katherine Bauer scored 20 points and had an additional 6 rebounds.  Holly Hempill put up 14 points and had a total of 11 rebounds.  Keely Craft was able to play for the first time since her knee injury and contributed 4 points.  The team is glad to have her back on the court. 

JrH @ Green
The 7th grade boys fought off a late rally to win 24-20. Chance Walburn led the way with 8.  The 8th grade suffered a heart-breaking loss in a very physical contest, 40-29. Michael Schmidt and Michael Hafer led the scoring with 13 and 12 respectively.

The eighth grade girls won 41-13 to improve to 13-0 on the season.

JrH v. Notre Dame
The 7th grade boys pulled a shutout in the second quarter against Notre Dame on their way to a 27-20 win at Rubyville. Bryson Hurt led the way with 8 points followed by Conner Phipps and Zack Phillips with 5 each.  The 8th grade fought their way through a classic defensive struggle to post a 29-21 victory.  Michael Schmidt led the Panthers with 10 and Levi Evans added 8 in the win.

The eighth grade girls won 47-32 over Notre Dame.

BB v. Eastern
There were three losses last night as the freshmen (38-47), JV (38-43), and varsity all lost. The varsity boys fell sixteen points short with the score being 53-37. The Panthers were led by Cody Bussler's 11 points.  Max Graham added 7, and Nathan Burchett and Josh Porter added 5 on the night. Clay now falls to 6-9 and 6-5 in SOC play.  The boys play again Friday night at East.

GB v. South Gallia
The Lady Panthers were host to the South Gallia Lady Rebels on Monday.  The JV contest was a close one for the Panthers, but they were not able to pull it out.  They lost 30-37.  The varsity, however, was successful in their contest.  The varsity game was concluded with the score 55-47.  Holly Hempill led the Panthers with 20 points and 15 rebounds, Katherine Bauer had 16 points, and Chelsea Beegan added nine points for the evening.  Clay will be hosting the Green Lady Bobcats on Thursday.

JrHGB v. Symmes Valley
Both junior high girls' teams won Monday night.  The seventh grade defeated Symmes Valley 43-16.  The eighth grade won 59-39.  The seventh grade is now 4-3, 3-0 on the season while the eighth grade is now 11-0, 8-0 on the season.

BB @ Symmes Valley
An eight-point difference in the second quarter was all the difference in the game on Friday night.  Symmes Valley outscored the Panthers 17-9 enroute to a 55-47 victory.  Cody Delotell and Nathan Burchett both scored 14 while Cody Bussler scored 8 in the loss.  The Panthers are now 6-8 and 6-4 on the season.  The JV lost as well.  The Panthers host the Eastern Eagles on Tuesday.  The freshmen game begins at 5PM.

GB v. East
The Clay Lady Panthers outscored the Lady Tartans with a final of 45-37.  Chelsea Beegan led Clay, hitting three 3-pointers and scoring 11 points.  Katherine Bauer, Holly Hempill, and Emily Spriggs each added nine points to the win.  The Lady Panthers play home Saturday evening against South Gallia.

JrH @ East
The 8th grade boys (9-1, 7-1) raced from 12 down in the first half to cruise to a 43-30 win at East. Michael Schmidt led the scoring with 20 while Michael Hafer added 14.  The seventh grade girls won 53-7 to improve to 5-3 and 3-0 on the year.

GB @ Notre Dame
The JV Lady Panthers and Lady Titans tied, 9-9, last night in two quarters of action.  The varsity team pulled through with a win with a final score of 36-27. Chelsea Beegan had 13 points while Katherine Bauer added 12.  Holly Hempill finished with 5 points and 10 rebounds.  The Lady Panthers are now 8-3 in SOC I play.  Clay hosts East Thursday night.

JrHBB @ South Webster
The 7th grade boy fought back from a 7 point deficit to pull out a 33-30 victory at South Webster.  Conner Phipps and Bryson Hurt both had 9 points, with Chance Walburn adding 8.  The 8th grade stretched their winning streak to 8 with a hard fought 55-42 win.  Michael Hafer led the scoring with 20, followed by Michael Schmidt with 18.  Bobby Madden came off the bench to have a stellar defensive game.

JrHGB v. South Webster
The seventh grade lost 28-54 at South Webster.  The week before they had defeated the Jeeps.  They are now 4-3, 2-0 on the season.  The eighth grade won 29-19.  They are now 10-0, 7-0 on the season.

BB v. Western
The JV won Tuesday night to improve their record to 8-5 on the year. The score ended up being 35-23. The varsity came up short in the contest as they lost to the Indians with the score being 51-45. The Panthers fall to 6-7, and 6-3 in SOC play. Cody Delotell led the Panthers with 13 followed by Bussler 10 and Burchett 6. Clay plays again Friday at Symmes Valley.

GB @ Waverly
The Clay Lady Panthers put up a tough fight last night against the Waverly Tigers.  JV finished the game with a loss of 11-21.  Varsity also lost their battle with the following score:  35-48.  Holly Hempill scored 15 points with an additional 10 rebounds.  Katherine Bauer tallied 8 points and Taylor Carter put up 7 points.  The Lady Panthers will head to Notre Dame tonight to make up a league game.  JV starts at 6:00pm.

JrH v. New Boston
The 7th grade boys improved their record to 6-1 with a 38-25 victory over New Boston. Bryson Hurt led all scorers with 12; Zack Phillips and Chance Walburn added 8 points a piece.  The eighth grade girls won 40-22.

BB vs Rock Hill
Saturday night was Clay's homecoming game.  Both the JV and varsity fell to the Redmen on Saturday. Clay's JV lost 33-39  bringing their record to 7-5. The varsity team also lost my 10 with a score of 53-63. The Panther's are now 6-3 in the SOC and 6-6 in the regular season. Top scorers for the Panthers:  Bussler with 18; Valentine with 10; Delotell with 7; and Lawson, Duduit, Burchett, and Graham all with 4 points each. The next game for Clay will be home this Tuesday against Western. Good luck Panthers!

Both the JV and varsity came home with a win on Friday night. The JV won 41-38; they are now 7-4. The varsity team won by 12 with the score being 65-53. Clay is now 6-5 on the regular season and 6-2 in SOC play. The leading scorers for Clay were Valentine with 21, Burchett 10, Delotell and Bussler with 7 points each.

GB @ Eastern
Clay's JV team was victorious in their game against Eastern with the score 18-12.  The varsity was not able to do the same though.  The Lady Panthers lost to the Eastern Eagles at Eastern.  The score of the game was 47-44.  Chelsea Beegan led the Panthers with a game-high 15 points from 5 three pointers.  Holly Hempill followed with 12 points and 8 rebounds and Katherine Bauer had 11 points in the loss.  The Panthers will travel to Waverly on Monday in their next contest.

JrHBB @ Eastern
Bryson Hurt led the way with 11 points, and Zack Phillips and Conner Phipps added 5 each as the 7th grade boys won 34-22 at Eastern.  The 8th grade continued winning with a 49-34 decision, led by Michael Hafer and Mark Shaffer, with 16 and 14 points respectively.  The seventh grade boys will be back in action on Monday as they play New Boston.  The seventh graders are now 5-1 on the season while the eighth grade boys are now 7-1.

JrHGB v. Eastern
The seventh grade and eighth grade girls both won their games on Thursday nigth in Rubvyille.  In the first contest, the seventh graders defeated the Eastern Eagles 26-21.  The second contest of the evening saw the eighth graders cruise to a 65-33 win.  The eighth grade girls will be back in action on Monday as they play New Boston.  The seventh grade girls are now 4-2 on the year while the eighth grade girls are 8-0.

JrHBB v. South Webster
The shorthanded 7th grade boys fought through a tough physical contest to gain a 39-35 win at home against South Webster.  Bryson Hurt led the way with 13 points while Zack Phillips and Taylor Swayne added 8 each in the win. The 8th grade boys willed their way to a 49-30 win over a feisty South Webster team led by Michael Hafer's 17 points. Mark Shaffer added 13 and Michael Schmidt contributed 11.

The girls traveled to South Webster on Wednesday and came home with two wins.  The seventh grade won 33-20 while the eighth grade won 42-38.  They will be back in action on Thursday at Rubyville.

BB v. Notre Dame PICS
The Panthers were 2-1 for the night. The freshmen won 27-23. The JV lost 32-57. The varsity increased their winning streak to four games after their win over the Titans. The score was 51-44. Jon Valentine was the leading scorer for the Panthers with 16 points.  He was followed by Lawson with 12 and Burchett with 11. Clay's overall record is now 5-5 and in SOC I play they are sitting in second place after the first round with a record of 5-2. Clay plays Friday night at New Boston for the start of the second round in the SOC play.

GB v. Symmes Valley
The Lady Panthers earned their seventh league win against Symmes Valley on Monday night.  The JV defeated Symmes Valley in two quarters, with 15-8 as the final score.  The varsity girls also pulled out a victory.  By the first half, Clay had the lead with the score of 22-14.  They only allowed Symmes Valley to put up 13 total field goals the entire game.  Chelsea Beegan made three 3-pointers and had 11 points by the end of the game.  Julie Williams contributed 10 points whereas Holly Hempill added 7 points with 21 rebounds.  Katherine Bauer put up 6 points and also dished out 9 assists.  The Lady Panthers will be traveling to Eastern Thursday night for an SOC I match.

GB v. West
Saturday the JV Lady Panthers had a loss against the Lady Senators from West.  The score for their game was 35-20.  Fortunately, things looked up in the varsity match and they beat the Senators 48-42.  It was a very hard fought game from both teams.  Katherine Bauer was the leading scorer that game with 20 points, standing 8 for 8 from the free throw line.  Chelsea Beegan contributed 10 points and 4 rebounds, Holly Hempill had 6 points and 9 rebounds, Emily Spriggs had 4 points, and Julie Williams and Sarah Pelfrey each contributed 2 points.

BB v. Symmes Valley
Saturday night the both JV and varsity boys got a win over the Vikings. Jv won 47-44 to increase the record to 6-3. Varsity came off with an OT win. With the score being 58-56 to move Clay to 4-5 and in SOC play 4-2. Jon Valentine led the Panthers in scoring on Saturday night with 15. Following him was Delotell with 14 and Burchett with 13. Clay plays Tuesday night against Notre Dame at home.

BB @ Green
The JV lost against Green on Friday night to fall to 5-3 on the year. The varsity boys won 53-41. The leading scorers for the Panthers were Lawson with 19, Bussler with 9, while Valentine and Burchett had 8 apiece. Clay is now 3-5 and 3-2 in SOC play.

GBB @ Western
The JV and Varsity were both successful as they traveled to the Western Lady Indians' gym.  The JV team won their game 13-11.  The varsity won  their contest 48-32.  Katherine Bauer had a game-high 16 points.  Holly Hempill added 9 points and 10 rebounds and Chelsea Beegan contributed 4 assists to the win for Clay.

The seventh grade boys suffered their first loss of the season at Western on Thursday.  They came back from 21 points down to make it close, but they fell 33-41 to the Indians, who are also undefeated.  Zach Phillips had 10 while Bryson Hurt contributed 8 points.  The eighth grade boys improved to 5-1 on the season with a 53-31 win.  Michael Hafer scored 18 points in the win while all of his teammates were able to make the box score as well.

The girls improved to 6-0 on the year with a 47-6 win versus Western.

JrHGB v. St. Joe
The eighth grade remained undefeated on the year by posting a 37-31 win over Ironton St. Joe.  The Pantehrs are now 5-0 on the season.  They will be back in action tonight at Western.

9BB @ Peebles
The freshmen traveled to Peebles on Wednesday.  The Indians won the contest 34-47.

BB v. East

Both the JV and varsity teams came away with wins.  The JV won 49-36 to make their record 5-2. The varsity score was 70-61. The leading scorers for the Panthers were Nathan Burchett 23, Jon Valentine 16, and Cody Bussler 10. The varsity boys record is (2-5) and (2-2) in the SOC. Clay travels to Green on Friday night.

GB v. New Boston

The Lady Panthers put forth a great effort Monday night against the New Boston Lady Tigers, but they unfortunately fell short of a win.  The final score was 43-41.  The leading scorers for Clay were Katherine Bauer and Holly Hempill who each had 11 points.

9BB v. Minford
The freshmen boys came up short in their quest for a second win on the year.  The Falcons won 46-44.  The freshmen are now 1-3 on the year.

The Clay junior high boys defeated New Boston 57-27.  Michael Schmidt led the way with 16.  Micheal Hafer added 15 to the score.  The boys travel to Western on Thursday.

The junior high girls defeated New Boston 50-31.

BB @ Eastern
The freshman boys won 45-38. The JV and varsity both lost.  The JV lost 33-39.  The varsity score was 74-53. The leading scorers for the Panthers were Cody Delotell with 13, Cody Bussler with 11, and Jon Valentine with 10. The freshmen are now 1-2, the JV 4-2, and the varsity 1-5.  the boys play again Tuesday night at home against East.

GB v. South Webster

The JV lost 30-35 to the Jeeps while the varsity also lost 37-57.  Both teams now stand at 5-3 (5-1 SOC I) on the season.

BB @ Western

The Panthers made the trip to Latham only to come back on the short end of a 60-63 decision.  The Panthers fall to 1-4 and 1-1 in the league.  The JV won to move to 4-1 on the year.

GB @ Green

The Clay Lady Panthers barely pulled through with a win against the Green Lady Bobcats, with a final score of 41-39.  Holly Hempill and Katherine Bauer each had 14 points, Chelsea Beegan had 10, Emily Spriggs scored 5 points, and Julie Williams contributed 2 points.  The Lady Panthers are now 5-1 in the SOC. JrHBB v. Green
Both teams won Thursday in Rubyville.  The seventh grade won 22-16 while the eighth grade boys won 45-23.  The boys are off for the holidays.  They will resume play on January 7th when they host Notre Dame.

The girls opened the evening at Rubyville with a win over the Green Bobcats.  They won 41-20.

GB @ East

The Clay Lady Panthers pulled off another important victory against East Monday night.  The JV ended with a close game.  They defeated the East JV by two points with the score being 17-15.  Varsity finished with a nice win as well.  Katherine Bauer scored 22 points followed by Holly Hempill with 21 points.  Holly and Katherine made 14 out of the 21 free throws combined.  The final score was 56-44.  This currently puts the Lady Panthers at 4-1 in the conference.  Clay will head out to Green on Thursday, December 17. 

JrHBB v. East
The eighth grade team defeated East 44-34 on Monday to move to 2-1 on the season.  No seventh grade was played; East did not have enough players.

BB v. New Boston

The Clay JV (3-1) and varsity (1-3) teams were able to pull off wins on Friday night against the Tigers. The JV score was 44-26. The varsity final score was 51-47. The leading scorers for the Panthers were Burchett 10, Lawson 8, Porter 7 and Bussler 7. The Panthers are now (1-0) in the SOC I. Clay will travel to Western to play on Friday, December 18.

GB v. Eastern

The Lady Panthers were very successful Thursday night.  The JV was able to win their contest with a score of 14-10, playing only two quarters.  The varsity was able to win in a close game (39-37).  Leading the scoring for the night was Holly Hempill with 15 points and 16 rebounds.  Katherine Bauer contributed 10 points.  The Lady Panthers will take on the Lady East Tartans Monday night in Sciotoville. 

9BB @ Wheelersburg
The Clay freshmen team played the Pirates Thursday night.  The Panthers ended the night with a 30-37 loss to fall to 0-2 on the season.

JrHBB v. Eastern
The junior high teams entertained the Eastern Eagles on Thursday night.  The seventh grade moved to 2-0 on the season with a 29-22 win.  The eighth grade even their record at 1-1 with a 50-29 victory.  Both teams are back in action Monday night when they host East.

The junior high girls won both of their contests on Thursday.  The seventh grade won 23-10 while the eighth grade won 39-30.  The seventh grade team is now 2-1 while the eighth grade is 1-0 on the young season.

BB @ Minford

Three games were played in Minford on Tuesday night.  The freshmen played their first game of the season; they lost 24-42.  The JV took the court for the third time this year.  They came into the game at 2-0, but the team fell 21-35 to fall to 2-1 on the season.  The varsity took one on the chin 39-69 to fall to 0-3 on the season.  The freshmen travel to Wheelersburg on Thursday will the JV and varsity team will host New Boston on Friday.

The Clay Varsity Lady Panthers came home from Symmes Valley with a win and a score of 36-33.  Holly Hempill lead the team with 13 points and 21 rebounds.  Katherine Bauer added 12 points. Chelsea Beegan, Julie Williams, and Maddie Whitley each added 3 points.  Emily Spriggs also added 2 points.

The Panthers made the trip to Willow Wood on Monday night.  The seventh grade boys (1-0, 1-0) won 24-16 while the eighth graders (0-1, 0-1)  fell 34-21.  The team will be back in action on Thursday as they host Eastern at Rubyville.

BB v. South Webster
Clay came up short again losing to the South Webster Jeeps on Saturday night. The final of the game was 72-50. Leading scorers for the Panthers were Bussler with 18, Valentine 10, and Porter with 8. Clay falls to 0-2 on the year. The JV (2-0) won 36-33 over the Jeeps.  The score was tied 33-33 with approximately 2 seconds to go in the contest.  The Panthers inbounds the ball to Chandler King who took one step and drained a half-court shot to win the game.  The Panthers will play Minford Tuesday at Minford, freshmen start at 5.

GB @ Valley
The Lady Panthers struggled against the Valley Indians in a tough match.  JV had a loss with the following score:  24-37.  The varsity also came home with a defeat.  The rough game ended with the final score of 30-52.  The Lady Panthers will be heading out to Symmes Valley the following Monday to play at 6:00pm.

BB v. Northwest
Clay loses the season opener to the Northwest Mohawks on Friday night. The final score of the game was 75-44. The leading scorers was Bussler 11, Lawson 11, and Burchett with 8. Clay is now 0-1 in the 09-10 season.  The JV team (1-0) defeated the Mohawks.

GB v. Western
Clay defeated Western at home with a final score of 56-37. Holly Hempill contributed 23 points, Emily Spriggs with 12, Katherine Bauer had 9 points, Chelsea Beegan with 8, and Julie Williams and Maddie Whitley both added 2 points to the score.  The Clay Lady Panthers' effort resulted in a nice win against the Western Lady Indians.

JrH 7GB v. Peebles
The Clay seventh graders defeated the Peebles Indians 17-16 on Thursday night.  They will be back in action again next Thursday as they travel to Eastern.

The seventh grade girls took the bus trip to Ironton and came home with a loss.  They are now 0-1 on the year.

GB @ New Boston
JV lost against the New Boston Tigers in a close match.  The final score was 24-26.  The varsity was also defeated in a battle that proved to be close to the very end.  Losing by only 6 points, the score was 47-53.  Katherine Bauer contributed 19 points for the team.  Keely and Holly also put up 7points each for the Lady Panthers during the intense game.  The Lady Panthers will play Western at home starting at 6:00pm.

BB @ Huntington HS (OHSAA Foundation Game)

The OHSAA Foundation game between Clay and Huntington helped raised nearly $2,000 for the two Huntington scholarship funds.  The previous year, Clay raised approximately $2,500 with its two games, Clay v. Huntington for the boys and Clay v. Wheelersburg in the girls contest.  Huntington edged Clay this year 47-45.
