Mar. 1 - Girls:  Div IV District Runner-up
The season for the girls basketball team finally came to an end on Wednesday night at Jackson High School.  Vying for a a District Championship, the first one since 1981, the Lady Panthers could not overcome the Lady Tomcats from Glouster-Trimble HS as they went down to defeat 41-64.  The Lady Panthers finish the year at 18-5, SOC Champions, Sectional Champions, and Division IV District Runner-up.

Feb. 25
The Panthers boys basketball team's run in the tournament came to an abrupt end Saturday night at Valley High School.  The team to end it was Whiteoak.  The final score:  33-63.   The Panthers end the season at 11-11.  The Winter Sports Banquet is scheduled for Tuesday, March 21 @ 6PM.  SOC1

Feb. 23
The Clay Lady Panthers made the trip to Jackson HS on Thursday evening to take on Hemlock Miller after capturing a sectional title the previous Saturday at Northwest HS.   The evening was a successful one as they defeated Miller 42-28 to advance to the District final game on Wednesday, March 1, 2006.  They will play Glouster Trimble, who defeated Leesburg-Fairfield 50-41.  The game is at Jackson HS.  Tip-off is at 6:15PM. Presale Tickets are $5.   SOC1

Feb. 21
The Clay varsity boys basketball team opened up tournament play with a 60-57 win over the Western Indians, who had defeated Clay twice during the regular season when Clay had not had the services of Cam Thoroughman.  The win improves their record to 11-10 and advances them to the Sectional Final on Saturday, February 25 at Valley HS at 8PM against the winner of the Whiteoak (#2) and Manchester contest.

Feb. 20
The eighth grade boys basketball team finished their season Monday night at South Webster High School in the South Webster Junior High Tournament.  They lost to Northwest to finish the season at 14-2. 

Feb. 18 - Girls:  Div. IV Sectional Champions!
The girls varsity team won another sectional title on Saturday at Northwest High School.  The girls defeated Western Pike for the third time this season by a final of 65-46.  The win advances the team to the District tournament to be held on Thursday at Jackson HS at 8PM.  They will play Hemlock Miller who defeated Symmes Valley 45-44 in OT on Saturday.  Presale tickets for the district game may be purchased in the CHS office until 3PM on Thursday.  SOC1

Feb. 17
The Panthers traveled to Sciotoville Friday night to play the East High Tartans.  The JV won 38-37 to finish the season at 12-8.  The varsity picked up a big win to finished the season at 10-10 and 7-7.  The varsity will play Western at Valley HS at 8PM on Tuesday night in Sectional play.  Presale tickets ($4) may be purchased in the CHS office until 3PM on Tuesday.   SOC1

Feb. 16
The seventh grade boys lost to Valley 22-54 in the first round of the South Webster Jr High Tournament.  They finish the year at 9-5.

Feb. 15
The eighth grade boys defeated South Webster 52-20 to advance in the South Webster Jr High Tournament.  They will play Northwest on Saturday (Feb. 18) at 2PM.

Feb. 14
The Panthers picked up a crucial win last night--a SOC win as well as gaining a chance to end the season on a high note and end the season at .500.  The Panthers defeated Green at home 43-31.  The win improves the team to 9-10 and 6-7.  The JV, however, lost to Green 29-34.  The loss drops their record to 11-7 on the season.  The Panthers finish the regular season at East on Friday night and will play Western in the first round of the sectional at Valley HS on Feb. 21.  Game time is 8PM.  SOC1

Feb. 11
The junior high girls team traveled to South Webster High School Saturday to play in the South Webster Junior High Invitational.  Their first match-up was against the #3 seeded Jackson team.  Jackson won the game 27-21.  The eighth grade girls finished the season at 10-5.

Feb. 10
Friday night saw the return of Cam Thoroughman to the Panther lineup, but that was not enough to stop the Eastern Eagles.  The Eagles won the game 73-62 to clinch a share of the SOC.  The varsity is now 8-10, 5-7.  The JV won on the night to improve to 11-6 on the season.  SOC1

Feb. 9 - Girls:  Southern Ohio Conference Champions!
Five and a half games were played Thursday night--three at East and 2 1/2 at Clay.  The junior high girls won their game at East.  They finished the regular season at 10-4.  The seventh grade girls finished the regular season at 10-1.  The 7th grade boys also won.  They finished with a 9-4 record during the regular season.  The 8th grade boys (13-1), on the otherhand, lost their first game of the season.  The 9th grade boys lost to Portsmouth at home by a score of 42-38.  They are now 2-6 on the season.  The JV girls played two quarters against East.  The score was 26-14.  They finish the season at 14-3.  The varsity girls then capped off their SOC-winning season with a 58-47 win over the Lady Tartans.  They finish the season at 16-4 and 13-1.  SOC1

Feb. 8
The junior varsity girls traveled to West on Wednesday night to play a JV-only contest.  The Lady Senators avenged an earlier 37-33 overtime loss to defeat the Lady Panthers 49-39.  The loss drops the Panthers to 14-3 on the season.

Feb. 6
The freshman boys lost to Minford on Monday to fall to 2-5.

Feb. 4
On Saturday evening the boys basketball teams traveled to South Webster High School to take on the Jeeps.  As the previous night, both teams made the bus trip home on the wrong side of two decisions.  The JV lost 37-20 to go to 10-6 on the season while the varsity lost 73-36 to drop below .500 at 8-9 and 5-6 on the season.  SOC1

Feb. 3
The junior varsity and varsity boys traveled to Symmes Valley on Friday night only to come home on the wrong side of two decisions.  In the JV contest, the Panthers lost 51-50 in two overtime periods.  They are now 10-5 on the season.  The varsity lost 54-38; they are now 8-8 and 5-6 on the season.  SOC1

Feb. 2
Three teams played Eastern Pike on Thursday and Clay came away with three wins.  The junior high boys entertained the junior high teams from Eastern at Rubyville.  The seventh grade (8-4) and the eighth grade (13-0) both won their games.  The girls varsity traveled to Eastern Pike and pick up another SOC win by defeating the Lady Eagles 51-41.  They are now 15-4 and 12-1.  SOC1

Feb. 1
Wednesday night saw five games played in one night.  The junior high girls traveled to South Webster.  The seventh grade won; they are 10-1.  The eighth grade team lost; they are 9-4.  The South Webster boys junior high team traveled to Rubyville the same night.  The seventh grade lost; they are 7-4.  The eighth grade team won; they are 12-0.  On the same night, the West JV girls team came to Clay HS to play a JV-game only.  The Clay JV won 37-33 in overtime.  They improve to 14-2 on the season.

Jan. 31
The boys dropped another SOC contest on Tuesday evening to Western.  The JV won 43-38 to improve to 10-4 while the varsity lost 45-68 to go to 8-7 and 5-5 on the season.  SOC1

Jan. 30
The junior high girls traveled to Eastern on Monday evening.  The seventh grade lost while the eighth grade team won their contest.  The seventh grade team is now 9-1 while the eighth graders are 9-3.

Jan. 26
Saturday night proved to be a repeat of Friday night as the junior varsity team battled back to win while the varsity team struggled to stay in the game against the West Union Dragons.  The JV won 45-41 improving to 10-3 on the season while the varsity lost 67-44 to go to 8-6 and 5-4 on the season.  SOC1

Jan. 25
Friday night saw the Panthers split their contests with the New Boston Tigers.  The JV won 37-35 on a last-second shot by Evan Keaton to improve to 9-3.  The varsity lost 47-45 on a shot with 1.5 seconds left on the game clock.  The varsity team falls to 8-5 and 5-4 on the season.  SOC1

Jan. 26  Clay Lady Panthers Capture Second Straight SOC Title!
The Clay Lady Panthers came into Thursday's SOC game needing a win to capture the Southern Ohio Conference title and that is just what they did.  The girls defeated the Symmes Valley Vikings 55-39.  They are currently 14-4, 11-1.  The JV team also won Thursday night as they defeated the Vikings 41-14.  Their record is currently 13-2 on the season.   SOC1

Jan. 25 
On Wednesday night, the girls' junior high teams traveled to South Webster while the South Webster Jeeps' junior high boys' teams came to Rubyville.  At South Webster, the seventh grade team won while the eighth graders lost to the Jeeps.  The seventh graders are now 9-0 and the eighth grade is 8-3.  The boys results were exactly the opposite.  The seventh graders lost 41-61 to fall to 7-3 while the eighth grade team won 48-16 to go to 11-0 on the season.
 
Jan. 24
The Notre Dame Titans came into the confines of Clay High School for a SOC-matchup only to leave with two loses.  The Clay JV won 27-18; they are now 8-3.  The varsity won 49-26.  They go to 8-4, 5-3 on the season.  SOC1

Jan. 23
Monday, January 23 was a big night for games at Clay.  The junior high boys hosted Green while at the high school the ninth grade boys team hosted Valley and the girls played host to West.  At Rubyville, Green won the seventh grade game 42-36.  The seventh grade's record is now 7-2.  In the second game, the eighth grade boys won 36-31.  Their record sits at 10-0 now.  At the high school, the ninth grade boys basketball team defeated Valley; it was their first win of the season (1-4).  The JV girls only played two quarters against West, but the varsity won 59-43.  The varsity team improves to 13-4 and 10-1 on the season.  SOC1 

Jan. 21 HOMECOMING
The girls were happy and so were the ball teams.  Kim Albrecht and her court were on center stage and both the JV and varisty teams won close games over Manchester on homecoming night.  The JV held on to win 30-29 improving their record to 7-3 while the varsity came back from a deficit to win 37-31 over the Greyhounds.  Their record stands at 7-4 and 4-3.  SOC1

Jan. 20
The Panthers traveled to Green for a big SOC match-up only to come out on the short end of both games.  The JV lost 30-40 to fall to 6-3 while the varsity lost in overtime 40-46 even though they were up by 12 mid-way through the fourth quarter and had led the entire ball game until Green tied it with less than two seconds on the clock in regualtion.  The varsity now falls to 6-4 and 4-3 on the year.  SOC1

Jan. 19
All the teams that played games last night won!  The seventh grade boys defeated Western 72-24 and the eighth grade team won 51-35.  The seventh grade is now 7-1 while the eighth grade improves to 9-0.  The ninth grade boys team defeated Northwest (2-4).  The girls junior varsity and varsity teams traveled to Western.  The JV team won improving to 12-2 on the season while the varsity won 46-32 to go to 12-4 (10-1) on the seaon.  SOC1

Jan. 18
The junior high girls' basketball teams traveled to Latham, Ohio to battle the Lady Indians of Western Junior High School on Wednesday night.  The seventh and eighth grade teams both won their contests.  The seventh grade is now 8-0 while the eighth grade is  8-2.

Jan. 17 
The boys basketball teams picked up two wins Tuesday night over SOC-rival East.  The JV won in overtime to improve their record to 6-2 on the season.  The varsity won 43-28 to go to 6-3 and 4-2 on the year.  SOC1

Jan. 16
Seven games were played Monday night.  The junior high seventh grade girls traveled to New Boston and defeated the Tigers 29-35 (7-0).  The eighth grade girls lost 21-45 (7-2) and the eighth grade boys won 54-28 (8-0).  The girls high school basketball team played host to the New Boston Lady Tigers.  They came away with two wins.  The JV team won 42-22 (11-2) and the varsity won 52-45 (11-4, 9-1).  SOC1 

Jan. 14
The junior high eighth grade team defeated the Notre Dame Lady Titans 46-15 Saturday morning to improve to 7-1 on the season.  The junior varsity, in a rare junior varsity only game, traveled to Northwest and came away with a 33-28 victory over the Mohawks.  Their record is now 10-2.

Jan. 13       
The junior varisty team came away with a win at Eastern (36-26) to improve to 5-2, but the boys drop their second straight SOC matchup 58-35.  The loss drops the varsity to 5-3, 3-2.  SOC1

Jan. 12
Four games were played Thursday night.  The junior high boys traveled to Notre Dame and came away with two wins.  The seventhg rade won 41-27 while the eighth grade won 46-32.  The seventh grade is now 6-1 while the eighth grade is 7-0 on the year.  The high school girls basketball team hosted Notre Dame the same night.  They also came away with two wins.  The JV won 43-14 to go 9-2 on the year wile the varsity won 63-37 to go to 10-4 (8-1).   SOC1


Jan. 11
The junior high girls suffered their first loss of the season as the team fell to Green.  The eighth grade is now 6-1 on the season while the seventh grade is 6-0.  The game was at Green.

Jan. 9
Five more games were played Monday night.  Three teams were victorious.  The seventh grade team suffered their first loss of the season (5-1).  They lost to the Green Bobcats on the road.  The eighth grade team won 45-33 to improve their record to 6-0.  The ninth grade team traveled to Portsmouth and lost.  They are now 0-4 on the season.  The girls basketball team hosted Green Monday night.  The JV team won 53-15.  They are now 8-2 on the season.  The varsity girls team won 44-33 to take a two game lead in the SOC race.  They are now 9-4 (7-1 SOC) on the season.  SOC1

Jan. 7
Saturday, January 7 was a day for basketball games--five total on the day.  The junior high teams hosted the New Boston Tigers while the girls' basketball team traveled to Coal Grove.  At CHS, all three teams defeated New Boston.  The boys defeated the Tigers 42-32 while the seventh grade girls won 34-20 and the eighth grade girls won 38-35.  Both the girls teams are now 6-0 on the season while the boys are also 6-0.  The mood in Lawrence County was not as good as the Hornets defeated both the JV and varsity teams on Saturday.  The varsity is now 8-4 on the season while the JV suffered their second loss of the season to go along with seven wins.  SOC1

Jan. 6
The boys basketball team traveled to Latham on Firday night and came away with a sour taste in their mouth.  The JV team led by seven points with under two minutes to go in the game only to lose 36-45 in overtime.  The varsity team (without Cam Thoroughman) was unable to muster enough points as they also fell to the Indians (44-48).  The loss by the JV drops their record to 4-2 while the varsity is now 5-2 (3-1).  SOC1

Jan. 5
Four Clay athletic teams played last night and three of them finished the night with wins.  The seventh grade girls team defeated the combined 7-8 East team 41-14.  They are now 5-0.  The seventh grade boys team defeated East 50-30 (5-0) while the eighth grade team won 62-41 as well (5-0).  The varsity girls traveled to Sciotoville and came away with a 60-30 decision over the Lady Tartans.  Their record improves to 8-3 and 6-1 in the SOC.  SOC1  The only defeat on the night came at the hands of the ninth grade boys team from South Webster as the Panthers traveled to South Webster and was handed a 42-22 loss.

Jan. 4
The athletic teams at Clay High School played four games last night and came away with four victories.   The seventh grade girls team defeated Eastern at Rubyville 37-31 and the eighth grade team won 52-14.  Both teams remain undefeated on the season (4-0).  The junior varsity and varsity teams traveled to Manchester and picked up two non-conference road wins.  The JV won 46-6 to go to 8-1 on the seaon while the varsity won 46-33 to improve to 7-3 (5-1) on the year.  SOC1

Dec. 30
The boys were back in action Friday night as they hosted the Symmes Valley Vikings in SOC action.  The junior varsity team lost for the first time this season as the Vikings won 42-35.  The loss drops the JV record to 4-1.  The varsity club had no trouble in picking up another SOC victory as they defeated the Vikings 69-35 to improve to 5-1 (3-0 SOC) on the season.  SOC1

Dec. 27
Tuesday night saw mixed results for the Lady panthers.  The junior varsity team lost 26-27 on a last second shot by Northwest.  The loss was the first for the JV team (7-1).  The varsity team overcame a sluggish first half and a one-point deficit (15-16) to defeat the Lady Jeeps 46-23.  The varsity improves to 6-3, 5-1.  SOC1 
 

Dec. 22
The ninth grade boys basketball team went into action for the second time this season on Thursday night.  Howver, they came up short on a 30-31 decision against Northwest.  The game was played at Rubyville. 

Dec. 20
Both the junior varsity and the varsity teams picked up victories Tuesday night as they hosted the New Boston Tigers.  The JV team won 41-29 to improve to 4-0 on the season and the varsity won 74-46 to go 4-1 (2-0 SOC) on the season.  They are off until December 30th as they host the Vikings of Symmes Valley HS.  SOC1
  
Dec. 19
The Lady Panthers picked up another SOC I victory as they defeated the Eastern Lady Eagles 54-22 Monday night.  They play again on Tuesday, December 27.  The JV team plays Northwest at 6Pm while the varsity team will take on the Jeeps of South Webster.  SOC1

On the same night the junior high boys defeated Eastern on the road.  The seventh grade won 28-26 while the eighth grade won 38-33.  Both teams are now 4-0 on the season.

Dec. 17
The Clay junior varsity and varsity boys won on Friday night as they traveled to face the Notre Dame Titans.  The junior varsity won 40-33 to improve to 3-0 and the varsity won 62-29 to improve to 3-1 (1-0 SOC)  on the season.  SOC1
 
Dec. 15
The Clay Lady Panthers traveled to Willow Wood Thursday night and came away with two more victories on the young season.  The JV team won for the seventh straight time as they picked up a 40-16 victory over the Lady Vikings.  The win improves thier record to 7-0.  The varsity team won 48-30 as they now improve to 4-3, 4-1 on the season.  SOC1 

Dec. 14
The junior high girls played host to the Western Indians on Wednesday.  The Panthers came away with two wins to improve to 3-0 on the season for both teams.  The boys' ninth grade team traveled to Valley for their first game of the season.  Unfortunately, the came home with a 30-38 loss to the Indians.

Dec. 13
The Panthers played their first home game of the season, and they came away with two victories over the Northwest Mohawks.  The junior varsity team won 35-24 to improve to 2-0 on the season and the varsity won 45-42 to improve to 2-1 on the season.  The Panthers travel to Notre Dame on Friday.  SOC1

Dec 12
Monday was a good night for Clay athletic teams.  The boys' junior high teams traveled to Latham where they defeated the Indians in both games.  The seventh grade team (2-0) team won 61-9 and the eighth grade team (2-0) won 52-20.

While the junior high boys' teams were in Latham, they Western Lady Indians came to Clay to battle the Lady Panthers.  The Panthers came away with two wins as well.  The JV team won  64-6, their second 58-point win of the season, to improve to 6-0 on the season; and the varsity team won 75-37 to move to 3-3 (3-1 SOC) on the year. Dec. 10
The junior varsity team defeated Fairfiled Saturday afternoon 30-25 to improve to 5-0 on the season.  The varisty team was not so fortunate as they fell 46-64 to the Lady Lions.  The varsity team is now 2-3 and 2-1 (SOC) on the year. SOC1

Dec. 9
The Panthers fell to Louisville Western in ouertime in the Blue Chip Classic at Lexington Catholic High School on Friday. SOC1

Dec. 8
New Boston called and canceled the junior high girls' basketball game scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 8.  The ninth grade basketball game with South Webster was also canceled at an earlier date because of field trips at Clay and South Webster.  These games will be rescheduled for a later date.

The junior varisty girls and the varsity girls basketball teams picked up SOC road wins Thursday night as they traveled to New Boston and defeated the Tigers in both games.  The JV won 38-23 to improve to 4-0 on the season while the varsity won 66-48 behind good defense and team play (3 in double figures, 8 in the scoring column, and everyone getting playing time).  SOC1 

Dec. 7
Both of the junior high girls' teams picked up their second win of the season last night against Notre Dame.  The seventh grade won 53-4 while the eighth grade won 35-11.  Tonight's game with New Boston will begin at 5PM since the boys will not be playing this evening.

Dec. 6
The boys' junior varsity and varsity teams both picked up opening season wins at Minford on Tuesday night.  The JV won 29-27 on the back of Shane Keen's performance and the varsity won 53-26.  Cam Thoroughman had a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds and Justin Craft added 12 points and 6 rebounds.  Specific information may be found at the soc1.com site. 
   
Dec. 5
Monday night was a good night for all the Clay basketball teams--four games and four wins.  The seventh grade and eighth grade boys' basketball teams opened their seasons with wins over Notre Dame.  The seventh grade team won 34-30, and the eighth grade team won 45-31.  Congratulations to the boys and Coach Richard on beginning the season on the right track.

The junior varsity and varsity girls' basketball teams went on the road and defeated Notre Dame.  The JV team won 60-2 to go 3-0 on the season while the varsity won 74-27 to pick up their first win of the season (1-2, 1-1).  Specific information may be found at the soc1.com site. 

Dec. 3
The junior varsity defeated Valley on Saturday to improve to 2-0 on the season.  The varsity team fell to the Indians by a score of 60-51 to fall to 0-2, 0-1 on the season.  soc1.com

Dec. 1
The 8th grade junior high girls' basketball team started the new season on a winning note.  Katie Wheeler scored 26, Tori Osborne had 13, and Natalie Thacker contributed 11 in the 54-20 victory over Green.  Congratulations to the girls and to Coach Craft on his first win as the new 8th grade girls' coach.

The junior varsity also won their opening game at Green.  They defeated Green 50-7 to go 1-0 on the young season.  The varisty team, however, were unable to overcome a poor opening game as they fell to the Bobcats 32-40.  soc1.com
